BBC Media Action is looking for
Sales and Marketing Manager, El Kul – Libya
Building on the success of El Kul – the Facebook news / current affairs page targeting 18-35 year-old Libyans, BBC Media Action North Africa is currently working to enable it to become a sustainable, stand-alone brand. As a result, they are looking for a creative and dynamic Sales and Marketing Manager who is a true self-starter and has at least experience five years of building strategic marketing partnerships with advertisers, sponsors and donors.
S/he will be confident in developing and creating innovative commercial partnerships to commercialise and generate revenue for El Kul. S/he will also be working closely with internal departments to ensure successful delivery of a wide variety of projects and should have experience of using digital media channels (in particular social media) to extend brand reach and deepen relationships with audiences and customers.
Reports to: Senior Project Manager
Contract duration: 6-month contract – until end of September 2018 (with possible extension, depending on funding and project needs)
Generating ideas and opportunities across a variety of marketing channels including PR, social media, web content, email content and business communications amongst others.
Work as part of close-knit team within the organisation, communicating confidently at all levels and have the ability to liaise with several departments in order to fulfil the El Kul brand and marketing requirements.
Working creatively with the content team to develop appealing content to attract people to the El Kul brand.
Identifying leads and opportunities to generate revenue streams with advertisers and sponsors.
Pitching content themed sponsorship partnership and advertising opportunities.
Developing relationships with potential external commercial partners and donors.
Sponsor and donor mapping.
Strategic planning in relation to team structure and company/NGO development and progression.
Supporting the team in the development of their business skills.
Close work with the Project Manager around the needs and priorities of the funders as well as the donor requirements.
Researching organisations and businesses to identify new leads and potential new markets which might have an interest in reaching El Kul consumers in Libya and in the region
Researching the needs of local, regional and international companies and learning who makes decisions about collaborative partnerships.
Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and setting up meetings.
Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives.
Creating El Kul marketing presentation material.
Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.
Contacting clients to inform them about new developments in the company’s content products and advertising opportunities.
Developing proposals and pitches.
Liaising with the Finance team on billing and collection.
The role will also involve writing reports and providing feedback to the team, management and BBC Media Action about what is and is not working.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the following skill set:
Fluent in Arabic and English.
Candidates must be highly organised with excellent communication skills and management expertise.
Strong experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively, both internally and with external agencies/partners.
Strong leadership skills and will already have, or be able to build quickly, a strong network of external partners.
Proven track record in long term and effective leadership, managing and motivating teams and ensuring staff members receive regular feedback for development.
Performance management skills, of working with and developing talent to a high professional standard and in creating a supportive environment in which to work.
Able to think ahead to establish effective and appropriate actions for themselves and others in order to meet strategic objectives. Willingness to communicate and contribute to the department strategy as required.
Knowledge of developing media content is desirable.
